Just last week my dad, step-mom and my little family headed out to the Magic Kingdom to celebrate my sweet little petunia’s, Nova, 2nd (gasp!!) birthday.
The rumors are true, dreams do come true here. We had a few toddler meltdowns (not to mention a couple dad meltdowns lol). But, we sang, danced, rode, met princesses and had a blast. Check out a small preview of our fabulous weekend getaway at Disney and a cold day at the beach!
It has been a rainy & cold day here in Atlanta. I decided to still break out the Mark and still shoot some just for practice and fun (of course ;)). I love really dramatic light and always see these great portraits with side lighting, more descriptively Rembrandt lighting so I thought trying it out would be a great rainy day project. My precious girl, Marley, was my subject and all it took was 2 hershey kisses to get 10 minutes of window time. Not too shabby.
Love practicing new things and learning so much, I think I’ll start a learning challenge series. Consider this my first entry: Side Lighting. You should definitely try it, even if you don’t have a subject (i.e. kids) to practice with, you can always be your own subject. Afterall, Rembrandt himself was one of his favorite subjects. 😀
Specs: Canon 5D Mark iii, 35mm
Subject placed about 2 ft from light source. Play around with your subject and focal point. The closer to the light source the more dramatic the highlights and shadows will be.
2014 was my craziest year to date. crazy awesome. I had the pleasure of shooting over 30 amazingly beautiful weddings, countless families and babies and all kinds of fun moments in between. I got to join one of my best good friends in Vegas for an awesome elopement too! Um…yes please. A full post of the elopement is coming atcha soon! 
It’s been so long since i’ve had the chance to check in over here. Ahh! So much catching up to do! But, I did get an amazing message yesterday with a Couples’ Choice Award from Wedding Wire. So thankful for all my couples new and old! I can’t wait to see what 2015 holds!!
